"The past is the beginning of an end, when you challenge yourself to make the right choices that will lead to a life of positive change."
- Sekou P'Tah
When did we lose or separate ourselves from the ROAR within? Who do we blame for being miseducated, neglected inside our homes and schools? Why do we get rewarded for ignorance of who we are, instead of being made aware of what we think we know? Is it because our parents and educators fear the reality of what we may become outside of our households and schools?
TO BE ALIVE IS TO BE AWARE. There are many more questions you may ask yourself before putting Sekou's book down when it comes to your own personal experience with re-examining your life’s challenges, choices, and changes which influence your current and future decisions whether positively or negatively. His book is a guide to understanding what actually happened to you and others that caused us to lose our voice of nature—our ROAR!
We must be reminded that not every Guardian knows how to parent. And not every Educator knows how to teach. These adults are entrusted with our children’s vulnerable minds, yet continue to lead them further away from their ROAR or worse neglect its very existence. These “caring” adults, like us, were and still are actively engaged with the government enforced, 12-year behavioral modification program that we call “school.” They have been separated from their own ROAR and therefore have become numb to their disease of being unaware.
THINKING IS GOOD, KNOWING IS BETTER. The educational curriculum within Sekou's book is the master key to every human being from an infant to adult find where they each measure in their lives. This is an opportunity for you, and the youth in your care, to re-examine the negative behavioral changes that are a direct consequence of the premature choices and negative decisions one has made before arriving to their current status in life. These choices involve the pain, hurt, shame, and suffering of self, family, community, and society, systemic to the absence or removal of three of the most essential components known to humankind: Educational, Cultural, and Social Awareness.
